Music featured in Davenport festival

July 5, 2002 By admin

It’s not red, white and blue that’s attracting music lovers to eastern Iowa this weekend — just the Blues.People clapped, sang or just swayed along as the Blues flowed from the band shell last night on the Davenport levee. As the Mighty Mississippi flowed beside them, thousands of people turned out on a hot, humid night to see and hear artists like Long John Hunter and Lonnie Brooks. Part of Brooks’ set appeared live on nationwide TV. ABC News cameras broadcast several minutes of the sites and sounds of the 18th annual Mississippi Valley Blues Fest to millions. It was part of a special program in which ABC visited various music fests around the nation on July Fourth. The Blue Fest continues through Saturday, with free workshops during the day both today and Saturday.
