Thirty-five bicyclists on a national “Journey of Hope” climbed the steps of the Iowa Statehouse this afternoon. The stop’s part of a fraternity event organized to raise over 350-thousand dollars for the disabled. Two members of Iowa State University’s Pi Kappa Phi fraternity are part of the group. Twenty-three-year-old Jake Adrian of Princeton, Iowa, just graduated from I-S-U. He calls it a great opportunity and mission.Organizer Christian Santiago says there are two groups of fundraising cyclists who’ll ride through 20 states and meet up in Washington, D-C.The cyclists, who’re wearing red-white-and-blue jerseys, have five more stops in Iowa before winding into Illinois this weekend. The group started its 39-hundred mile journey in San Franciso. They’ll be in Ames tomorrow, Marshalltown on Wednesday, Cedar Rapids on Thursday, Monticello on Friday, and in Dubuque on Saturday.
