July 9, 2002 By admin

The Federal Emergency Management Agency plans to close its five disaster recovery offices in eastern Iowa on Saturday. Steve Zimmerman of the Iowa Emergency Management Division is the state coordinator for the federal offices. He says the flow of flood victims seeking aid has dried up, so they’ll close the doors Saturday. Zimmerman says they will have seen most of the flood victims in the 21 counties when the close up shop.Flood victims can still seek aid through FEMA’s toll-free telephone number, at 800-621-3362, through August 19th. Zimmerman says they’ve had one-thousand-241 people sign up for nearly one-and-a-half-million dollars in assistance.
