Final poll sees top teams hold on in 3A-4A baseball

July 12, 2002 By admin

There are few changes in the final 4A-3A Radio Iowa/Coaches Association high school baseball poll. Council Bluffs Lewis Central will enter tournament play in class 4A with the target of the number one ranking on their backs. They’ve held the ranking for five weeks and haven’t buckled under the pressure yet. The rest of the top five is the same with Marshalltown in second, Dubuque Wahlert third, North Scott fourth and Dubuque Hempstead fifth. The top five are also the same in class 3A, with Cedar Rapids Xavier holding onto the top spot it acquired in the last poll. Oelwein is in second, followed by Knoxville, Vinton-Shellsburg and Dallas Center Grimes rounding out the top five in the same slots they held last week. Waverly Shell-Rock is the only new team in the 3A poll this week, sneaking in at number 10. For a complete check of the top ten in all classes, check out the link to the poll at this site.
