Lake View wins state help for business expansion

July 12, 2002 By admin

The small western Iowa town of Lake View has won state help to see its major employer more than double its workforce. Lake View City Administrator Scott Peterson says the Evapco Company plans to grow. The company makes refrigeration units and they plan to expand by adding a 45-thousand square foot addition. Peterson says the expansion will add 60 jobs to the current workforce of 51. The Iowa Department of Economic Development is giving the company a 180-thousand dollar forgivable loan to help with the one-point-six million dollar expansion. Petersen says tax incentives are part of the reason the business first came to Lake View, and he says the available workforce was a key too. He says the expansion could be done by January. Evapco also has a plant in Illinois.
