Allianz looks to be more open for fans

The Senior P-G-A Tour’s Allianz Championship golf tournament is returning to West Des Moines later this summer for its second run at the Glen Oaks Country Club. Tournament director Kris Kilgard says they’ll try out some new things for fans at this year’s tourney.They’ll have a “Caddie for a Day” program, an honorary observer program, and they won’t have ropes holding back the gallery on the last few holes. He says the measures have been implemented at other tour events to try and make things more fan-friendly.Kilgard says several players have already committed to play including: Ben Crenshaw, Larry Nelson, Gil Morgan and defending champ Jim Thorpe. The tournament runs August 26th through September 1st.
