Unemployement rate holds steady

Iowa’s unemployment rate has remained the same for the past three months. Ann Wagner, a state labor market analyst, says the rate was three-point-six percent in June. Fifty-nine thousand Iowans were jobless. Wagner says Iowa’s job climate appears to be in a holding pattern.Wagner says the worst period of layoffs was in late 2001.She says if the economy is to take off again, companies have to start hiring, and that hasn’t happened yet.
