August 27, 2002 By admin

Iowa State opens Big-12 play at home Saturday against Kansas after a near upset of third-ranked Florida State. Cyclone coach Dan McCarney says the Cyclones need to be focused on Kansas and not what could have been. He says Kansas would like it if they keep thinking back to the close loss, but he won’t let that happen.McCarney says with a game under their belts, the Cyclones hope to take advantage of the game experience. McCarney says they have to make the improvement of mistakes this week in practice.Jack Trice Stadium has several new features this season. Permanent lights were installed as well as new bleachers in the south end zone which McCarney says is long over due. He says there’ve been a lot of different things in the south end zone in the time he’s been here, and all of them have been ridiculous. McCarney says it now looks like a Big 12 stadium.
