A Davenport man has been sentenced in connection with the death of anIllinois state trooper.21-year-old Jonathan Posey has been sentenced to 12 years in prison in the June 2001 dragging death of Sgt. Stanley Talbot. Posey sped away from a roadside safety check in Rock Island, Illinois, with Talbot holding onto his car. Several blocks later, the trooper fell from the car. He then was run over by a pursuing Rock Island officer. Posey fled the scene. Posey told the court he is sorry for what he did and has prayed for Talbot and his family every night. He says the accident would not have happened had it not been for drinking and drugs. Posey had been convicted in June of reckless homicide and failure to report an accident. A jury found him innocent of first-degree murder charges.
