WIlliam Penn enjoying resurgence

September 12, 2002 By admin

The William Penn football team is snapping a new streak virtually every time out. Penn downed Midland Lutheran a week ago for the Statesmen’s first season opening victory since 1994 and with a victory at Southern Nazarene of Oklahoma, the Statesmen would be 2-0 for the first time since 1984.Coach Jim Cox says they finished the last two games last year with 40-point wins and have been on a roll. Penn’s defense was dominating last week and Cox says it starts with a pair of outstanding cornerbacks. He says that’s a key because they like to blitz. Penn is on the road this week to play Southern Nazarene of Oklahoma.
