Eastern Iowa intersection proves to be dangerous

September 17, 2002 By admin

Eastern Iowa may have a new contender for the title of most dangerous intersection. One person was killed and another injured about 2:15 Monday afternoon in a crash at a busy rural intersection in Scott County. Ironically, it was the second serious crash at the intersection east of Eldridge in a two-hour time span. The Scott County Sheriff’s Department says Verlee Shounick of ruralDavenport was southbound. His car collided with an eastbound car whosedriver may have run a stop sign. Shounick was treated at a hospital and released. Officials have not yet released the name of the other driver, who was dead at the scene. Just two hours earlier, a dump truck collided with a car at the same location, and both drivers were injured. An investigation into both accidents is continuing.
