Iowa Senator Tom Harkin’s campaign manager has issued an apology for providing a reporter with a transcript of a private meeting Harkin opponent Greg Ganske held earlier this month. In a statement issued last night, Harkin campaign manager Jeff Link said he took “full responsibility” for the incident. Link said a member of the Harkin camp passed the transcript of Ganske’s private meeting to a newspaper reporter to “verify the accuracy” of the remarks. There’s still a missing link here, though, as he said no one from the Harkin campaign attended the meeting but that the campaign was provided a copy of the transcript. The Ganske campaign says the Harkin camp’s “dramatic reversal” from earlier denials leaves too many unanswered questions. Ganske continues to press for a criminal investigation of the incident.
