Despite a disasterous off-season of defections and arrests that has left just eight scholarship players on the roster Iowa basketball coach Steve Alford tried to accentuate the positive during media day and said he looks forward to the upcoming season. Alford says while expectations for this season are low the players need to be motivated by more than the opportunity to prove the skeptics wrong. He says he hopes his players are motivated by the start of another season, and doing the things that they love to do.Alford says the players need to view this season as an opportunity and make the most of every game.Alford says he is looking forward to coaching the group that remains. He says through everything that’s happened, they’ve been resilient.Iowa opens the regular season November 24th against Florida Atlantic
