Schools feature patriotic lunches this week

Trying to debunk the negative connotations of mystery meat and tatter tot casserole, school kitchens statewide are celebrating School Lunch Week. Candy Anderson, food service director for the South Hamilton Community School District, says this year’s focus is on patriotism.Anderson says the kids in the north-central Iowa district are taking a culinary jaunt around the country this week. Items on the menu include: Boston clam chowder, Chicago-style pizza, Yankee Doodle beef and noodle, and New York subway sandwiches.
