Waldorf ready for sports transition

October 15, 2002 By admin

Waldorf College is moving from a two-year junior college sports program to a four-year program starting either next fall or the fall of 2004. The Warriors have announced their intent to move from the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference to the Midwest Classic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Waldorf president Thomas Jolivette says a lot of decisions came quickly in making the jump, especially with Waldorf making its final transition into a four-year private college. He says choosing the athletic affiliation was the toughest choice, as they love the rivalries they’ve built.Jolivette says Waldorf should be a great addition to the Midwest Classic Conference and they think they can be competitive. With the move Waldorf also joins the Mid-States Football Association. Other current members of the Midwest Classic Conference include Mount Mercy of Cedar Rapids, Mt. St. Clare of Clinton, St. Ambrose of Davenport, Grand View of Des Moines, Iowa Wesleyan of Mount Pleasant, William Penn of Oskaloosa, and Viterbo of La-Crosse Wisconsin.
