Hopes are high for the Drake men’s basketball team for the upcoming season. Four starters return from last year’s team that finished 14-15 overall and 9-9 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Drake coach Kurt Kanaskie says the Bulldogs will be a lot deeper this season with several returners and a good recruiting class. Junior guard Luke McDonald returns after leading the Valley in scoring last season. He says McDonald led the conference in scoring while only taking 12 shots a game and is a very efficient player.Drake’s first exhibition game is November seventh.
