Iowa looks to close out regular season with record

November 11, 2002 By admin

The Iowa Hawkeyes will try to keep Floyd of Rosedale and earn at least a share of the Big Ten title in the process when they close out the regular season at Minnesota. The Hawks improved to 7-0 in the Big Ten and 10-1 overall with a 62-10 rout of Northwestern. Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says all they have to do is have a great week of practice.Quarterback Brad Banks had a near perfect day by finishing 10 of 10 for 197 yards and three touchdowns. He ran for two other scores. Ferentz says Banks is playing as well with his head making smart plays, as he is with his arm and feet. Banks was rewarded by being names the Big Ten Offensive player of the week. Ed Hinkel of Iowa was named Big Ten special teams player of the week after returning a punt for a touchdown.
