E-mail gets students in trouble

November 15, 2002 By admin

A couple northwest Iowa high school students are in hot water over a misplaced message that sparked a brief bomb scare at their school. Two Lake City High School students were suspended yesterday (Thursday) making an apparent bomb threat. It happened when the two fifteen-year-olds were “messing around” on the school’s computers, sending messages back and forth, when one pressed the wrong button, sending what looked like a bomb threat to computers in the school’s library and computer lab. School officials and Lake City police talked with the students and searched the building twice before determining the threat was not credible. The students have been charged with making threats involving an explosive device, and they may face more disciplinary action.
