Drake starts basketball season against Florida Atlantic

The Drake and Northern Iowa men open the basketball season tonight. The Bulldogs open at home against Florida Atlantic. Drake coach Kurt Kanaskie admits his team enters the season with lofty expectations, but he says they play a great opponent and it’s going to be a tough challenge. Florida Atlantic has three new starters but Kanaskie says the Owls have a lot of talent. Guard play is expected to be a strength for the Bulldogs. He says they can score in a variety of ways and he thinks they’re more athletic.Drake standout guard Luke McDonald missed the last exhibition game with a sprained ankle but returned to practice this week and is expected to play.
