Iowa opens season with win over Florida Atlantic

November 25, 2002 By admin

The Iowa basketball team opened the season with an impressive 79-52 victory over Florida Atlantic in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Junior forward Jared Reiner had a big night for the Hawks and finished with 15-points. Iowa coach Steve Alford says freshmen Jeff Horner and Greg Brunner played well in their first game. Center Sean Sonderleiter was in street clothes and has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules. Alford says when you don’t follow team policy and rules, then you have to suffer the consequences. Iowa visits Drake tomorrow night.
