Band teacher on the run with a stolen car

December 3, 2002 By admin

A teacher in the Central City school district is facing charges that he stole a vehicle from a local Cedar Rapids auto dealership. 32-year-old Marc Rood was stopped by an officer Monday who noticed his personalized plate had an expired tag. The officer then learned the 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee that Rood was driving had been reported stolen back in March by a local auto dealership. Rood, a band instructor for the Central City school district, is charged charged with second-degree theft, a felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison and a 75-hundred-dollar fine.
