Osky football coach to step down

After 28-years at the helm Oskaloosa high school football coach Jerry Staton has announced his retirement, sort of. Staton says he’s retiring from teaching, but doesn’t want to stop coaching. He says the school district wants a coach that also teaches, so he says he’ll look for a coaching job someplace as he still loves to coach. Staton says he leaves the job with a lot of fond memories. He says the celebrations in the lockerroom and seeing yound men mature with the lessons they’ve learned in sports. Staton has coached 38 years, including 28 at Oskaloosa.
