ISU coach says bowl game will be a challenge

December 18, 2002 By admin

The Iowa State football team faces a difficult challenge with a New Year’s Eve Humanitarian Bowl matchup against host Boise State. Cyclone coach Dan McCarney says much of the preparation will focus on slowing down a Boise State offense that racked up big numbers while winning the Western Athletic Conference title. He says they’ve just run up and down the field and blew out good Hawaii and Fresno State teams. While it is not the destination the Cyclones were hoping for midway through the season, they are happy for a chance to play another game. He says there are a lot of teams that would like to have the opportunity they have right now. The Cyclones dropped five of their last six games to finish the regular season 7-6.
