The new chairman of the Iowa Democratic Party predicts George Bush will suffer the same fate as his father and be a one-term President. Gordon Fischer says Bush will fall because of the state of the economy. Fischer says one-point-seven million jobs were created the year before Bush took office, but one-and-a-half million jobs have been lost since Bush took office.Fischer says if what he calls “the Bush recession” continues, Bush will be a one-termer. Fischer says the last two presidents provide an interesting contrast in election success.Fischer says at this point in Bill Clinton’s presidency, no one expected him to win reelection — while at this point in the first Bush’s term, he had a 91 percent approval rating and seemed a shoo-in for a second term. Fischer made his comments on Iowa Public Television.
