Oskaloosa man charged in New Year’s accident

January 2, 2003 By admin

An Oskaloosa man is charged with drunken driving for a New Year’s accident in Cedar Rapids. Cedar Rapids police say at about 11 o’clock last night, Jayson Dean Devries of Oskaloosa was drunk and driving too fast, and lost control of his Chevy Camero. The car smashed into trees that’re on the edge of a cemetary. Devries front-seat passenger — another man from Oskaloosa — wasn’t wearing his seat-belt and was thrown from the car. That man was flown by helicopter to University Hospitals in Iowa city, where he’s listed in very critical condition. Devries has been charged with failing to maintain control of his vehicle and Operating While Intoxicated.
