Drake looks for first Valley win against UNI

January 11, 2003 By admin

Drake will host Northern Iowa Sunday in an in-state basketball matchup. Drake is 0-3 in the Missouriu valley. While perimeter shooting has struggled at times, one constant has been the play of senior center Greg Danielson. Drake coach Kurt Kanaskie says Danielson has improved his rebounding and that makes them a better team. U-N-I has a number of newcomers this season and perhaps the most consistent has been Morningside transfer Matt Schniedermann.U-N-I coach Greg McDermott says Schniedermann helps stretch the defense of the other team when the Panthers are on offense. He says that frees things up for other guys inside. McDermott says Schniedermann needs to be more aggressive on the offensive end, but has been a great addition to the team.
