Mason City hospital wins award

January 16, 2003 By admin

A northern Iowa hospital is among only eight companies in the nation to receive the 2002 Platinum Well Workplace Award from the Wellness Councils of America. Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, in Mason City, is being recognized for demonstrating its worksite wellness program is topnotch. Kailo Wellness Coordinator Kelly Putnam says the program is a non-traditional approach to workplace wellness. Putnam says the Kailo program is basically a support program. Cindy Conner has been a nurse at Mercy for the last 16 years and says she uses the Kailo program all the time. Mercy was one of only two health care organizations in the U-S to receive the platinum level award.
