Iowa is searching for a new spokeswoman for people who have to use wheelchairs. They must be between 21 and 60 years old and like to talk to groups, travel and to be a spokesperson for people with disabilities. Marital status is not a consideration. Hoit says it won’t involve a big commitment of time or money. The new Ms. Wheelchair Iowa will be crowned in a ceremony in Iowa City on April 12th. The national Ms. Wheelchair pageant will be held in Des Moines this year, bringing in contestants from all over the U-S. That’s scheduled for July 26th. Hoit says the new spokesperson will be able to reach many other people with her message.Hoit is a polio survivor and was Iowa’s first Ms. Wheelchair in 1996. She says the winner of the title will go on a statewide public speaking tour to highlight not her disability, but her many abilities. For more information, contact Hoit at (319) 351-8375 or via email at “[email protected]”.
