Murder charges filed against Rock Valley woman

Authorities in Sioux County have now filed first-degree murder charges against a Rock Valley woman. Sheriff’s officers say Christine Lee Helen VanOort is charged in the death of Dick Post, who lived at the Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley. Post’s body was exhumed January 8 and a pathologist who did an autopsy then declared the cause of death was asphyxiation, secondary to complete obstruction of the airway with food. The report says the bronchial tubes to both lungs were affected. Detectives are continuing their probe to see if this was an isolated incident.
