Iowans march against war

January 18, 2003 By admin

A group of Iowans gather later this morning for a protest march over American plans to invade Iraq. Professor Ammertte Deibert says protestors will gather at a Grandview College parking lot in Des Moines and then will march to the state capitol. She says they’ll ask people to join hands and talk about why they’re there.Monday’s Martin Luther King holiday is part of the reason the demonstration’s set this weekend.Another group of protestors boarded buses yesterday in Ames, to head to the nation’s capital for a peace rally. Deibert says the Iowans in Washington will rally near the Capitol and then march to the D.C. naval yards. Monday after their return they’ll hold a press event at Iowa State University to tell about the venture.
