Drake men seek win against SIU

Drake is at home tonight in Missouri Valley Conference action against Southern Illinois. The Bulldogs are 2-7 in the Valley and tonight’s game continues a difficult stretch for Kurt Kanaskie’s team as they’ve played all the leading teams in the conference.Drake lost the first matchup in Carbondale and turnovers were a major factor. He says they didn’t handle the pressure defense very well.Southern is 9-1 in the Valley and opened an important three-game road trip with a victory at Wichita State. Southern coach Bruce Weber says it’s crucial they keep winning to keep up with the leaders in the conference. Weber says despite a 2-7 league mark, the Bulldogs remain a dangerous team. He says he felt at the start of the season Drake would be at the top of the league, and he says he still worried they’re going to break out sometime.
