Senator says briefings on potential terrorist attacks are scary

February 11, 2003 By admin

Iraqi president Saddam Hussein has agreed to allow flyovers by U-2 spy planes, but Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says that’s just an effort to delay the inevitable.Grassley says Hussein is trying to buy time to avoid an invasion before April first because after that date, it’ll be so hot in Iraq, U-S troops won’t be able to fight efficiently. Grassley says Hussein has already proven, time and again, he’s not a man of his word.Grassley says the environment of Washington D-C has changed a bit since last week’s moving up of the security alert status from yellow to orange. Grassley says he’s been in briefings that “scare the devil out of you,” like where the safe rooms are that members of Congress are to head for if there’s a chemical or biological attack. Grassley says he’s also being prepped for terrorism in other ways. The Republican Senator says he’s been told to know the location of the gas mask he was issued and to know how to put it on.
