Anamosa cop wins top honor

February 12, 2003 By admin

An officer from Anamosa has been named one of the nation’s top cops for 2002. 33- year-old Jeff Frankfurt was chosen one of the top 50 in the US by the National Association of Police Officers. In addition to handling special drug investigations, Frankfurt visited the site of the World Trade Center bombings on September 11th of last year, and gathered with some of New York City’s finest officers for a moment of silence. Frankfurt originally wanted to follow his father’s footsteps by working in the Jones County park system. Along the way, he became a parttime officer in Oxford Junction, joined Monticello police in 1992 and the Anamosa police department in 1995. A year ago Frankfurt got the chance to leave street patrols for drug investigation.
