So what if spring started a week ago? Most Iowans can expect to see temperatures fall below freezing today along with the strong chance of snowfall. National Weather Service meteorologist Frank Boksa says a massive storm system is developing over the western plains states and is headed toward Iowa. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for west-central Iowa tonight, along with a Wind Advisory this afternoon for east-central into southeast Iowa and a Winter Storm Watch for the northwest tonight into Friday. Boksa says winds accompanying this storm may range from 25 to 40-miles an hour. He says the weather system may bring Iowa one-to-two inches of snow, but he says since it’s developing, they don’t know for sure how much snow it will dump. He says it’ll likely be mostly rain. Boksa says there may be a lousy drive home this afternoon for many Iowans as he says the next 36 hours “won’t be pretty.”Highs statewide today are very wide-ranging. It’s expected to reach the 70s in southeast Iowa this afternoon while the northwest likely won’t get past the 30s.
