Love love’s the competition at QB

April 16, 2003 By admin

A close race for starting quarterback won’t be decided until pre-season practice. Cyclone coach Dan McCarney says junior Chris Love has a narrow edge over freshman Austin Flynn heading into Saturday’s spring game. Junior college transfer Wayne Terry suffered a broken thumb and will rejoin the battle this fall. Love says it has been a good battle as he expected, and a lot of fun. Love is not surprised the final decision won’t come until pre-season. He says it’s the coaches decision and the players just go out and do the best they can to win a spot.Love says one facet of the game may decide who gets the job. He says mistakes and whoever makes the fewest of them will decide who wins the job. Love says they also have to show they can get the ball into the endzone.
