UNI baseball team back in hunt for MVC tourney

April 22, 2003 By admin

The Northern Iowa baseball team is back in the post season hunt after a four-game sweep of Creighton last weekend. The Panthers moved from last in the Missouri Valley standings to a tie for sixth with a record of 7-9. Despite a string of one-run losses early in the season, U-N-I coach Rick Heller says the players never packed it in. Heller says he doesn’t have a lot of seniors on the squad, but the ones he does have helped keep the younger players from getting too down. Heller says he just kept talking about playing hard, and he says if you play hard every day, good things will start happening to you. The Panthers host Minnesota tomorrow then will play Illinois State at home this weekend in a Valley series.
