Waterloo man charged with setting two fires

A Waterloo man’s been arrested in connection with two fires at a downtown building. 35-year-old Alonzo Brown was charged with 2 counts of first-degree arson in connection with fires at a building where he lived. Early this morning they say a fire began in a chair in a third-floor hallway, and Waterloo police say Brown was questioned at the scene and taken into custody then. Investigators say in the other fire, April 22, he allegedly set a sofa afire in a fourth-floor lounge.The two fires caused heavy smoke and water damage and displaced several other residents.
