Wartburg pulls off track sweep

May 12, 2003 By admin

Wartburg College made Iowa Conference history over the weekend by sweeping the mens’ and womens’ team titles at the league’s outdoor track and field meet over the weekend. The Knights swept cross country, indoor and outdoor team titles this year, the first team that has been accomplished. Wartburg coach Marcus Newsom says he’s always heard that track is an individual sport, but he says it’s not. He says they are a family and they take pride in the team aspect of track and field. He says having athletes who believe in one another is important.
