Iowa looks for fifth World Series softball berth

May 13, 2003 By admin

The Iowa softball team will travel to Nebraska this week to take part in an N-C-A-A regional. The Hawkeyes are fresh off the championship of the Big Ten tournament in Iowa City and are seeded third in the regional. Iowa coach Gayle Blevins says it’s the first year for 64 teams and eight regionals. The Hawkeyes will play sixth seeded Pacific on Thursday. She says they’re doing a lot of scouting and checking of websites to find out what they can about Pacific. She says they feel good about where there team is. Blevins feels the Hawkeyes are a team that have peaked at the right time and has become closer and more aware of their individual roles.By winning the regional the Hawkeyes would advance to their fifth college world series since 1995.
