Waterloo company wins NCAA travel contract

May 19, 2003 By admin

The N-C-A-A has tapped a Waterloo company as its exclusive travel agency. David Lecompte is president of Short’s Travel Service and says they were one of eight companies that responded to a proposal request back in January. He says one agency has handled the travel accomadations for the last 22 years, so he says it’s astonding that they’ve made it in. Lecompte says the agreement includes team travel to all the N-C-A-A championship events. The company also has a Kansas City office and Lecompte says they will need to hire 25 additional staff to handle the workload. Seven will be in Indianapolis, with the remaining people between Waterloo and Kansas City.Lecompte did not disclose the terms of the contract but says it is a multi-year, multi-million dollar agreement.
