June 23, 2003 By admin

Central College softball pitcher Libby Hysell has won the Honda Award as the N-C-A-A division-three woman athlete of the year. The announcement was made today at Columbia University in New York City. Central athletic director Al Dorenkamp says Hysell is with her parents and her coach in New York for the awards banquet. Hysell was a three-time All-American and posted a 17-0 record this past season in leading Central to its fourth national championship. He calls her a great role model and student, and a fun person to have around. Dorenkamp says it’s a great thing for the college and something that’s well deserved for Hysell. The Colfax-Mingo high school product had a career record at Central of 70 wins and just 16 losses.
