Helicopter registered in Iowa found downed in Missouri

June 26, 2003 By admin

Authorities in Missouri have found a helicopter registered to De Jong (Dee-young) Manufacturing of New Sharon, Iowa, which turned up missing last night. The helicopter was found near the tiny town of Bunceton near Booneville, Missouri where the pilot had set down to avoid bad weather. The Missouri Highway Patrol says the wife of the pilot reported the helicopter was missing around 11 o’clock last night. Susie Stonner of the Missouri State Emergency Agency says a three-county search started this morning, and the chopper was found after someone heard the report it was missing on a radio station. Stoner confirms the wreckage was found in a cornfield. The identity of the pilot is not being released pending notification the next of kin.
