Minnesota prosecutors will ask a grand jury to indict a Mason City man for first-degree murder in the death of a motel clerk. Roger Morton has already been charged with second-degree murder in the May 29th strangling death of Mary Klatt of Blue Earth. Under Minnesota law, a grand jury must decide if a defendant should be charged with first-degree murder. When Klatt was killed, prosecutors say Morton was staying at the AmericInn motel in Blue Earth. Prosecutors say rape was the motive. They say DNA from sperm collected at the scene matches Morton.
