A 29-year-old Waterloo woman is charged with first-degree arson after a fire heavily damaged a Cedar Falls apartment building yesterday. Shari Johnson was charged following an investigation in which police determined she set the fire after getting into an argument with her boyfriend. The fire is believed to have started in a basement apartment of the eight-plex and traveled to the roof. Two of the apartments were destroyed, two had heavy smoke damage, and four others light smoke damage. The damage is estimated at 250 to 300-thousand dollars. No injuries were reported.
