Wednesday is a busy day for Iowa Games office

July 1, 2003 By admin

Wednesday may be the busiest day of the year at the office of the Iowa Games. Of the 45-sports the summer festival offers, 29 have an entry deadline on Wednesday ranging from three-D Archery to Water Skiing and weightlifting. Iowa Games executive director Jim Hallihan says all but a few sports offer an unlimited number of entries but the deadline is needed to help organize the competition.Hallihan says they want as many people as possible to come. He says what makes the Games fun is that people of all ages and fitness levels take part. Hallihan says like every year the Iowa Games are looking for officials who can help in some of the larger competitions. Hallihan says the biggest need for officials are in the sports of baseball, softball and the soccer finals in Ames. The Iowa Games are July 18th through the 20th in Ames.
