More serious charges are now filed against the man who’s accused in a Prom Night crash that killed a northeast Iowa girl. 21-year-old Damir Mekic of Robinsdale, Minnesota, and formerly of Waterloo, was originally charged with vehicular homicide, a class “C” felony. Black Hawk County prosecutors have upgraded that to a class “B” felony, saying Mekic’s blood-alcohol level was higher than point-one-oh. If found guilty, he could face up to 25 years in prison for the April 27nd accident that killed 18-year-old Keely Lyons of Traer.
