The top team in the largest class has changed in the latest Radio Iowa-Coaches Association high school baseball poll. Burlington moved up the 4A poll from second to first after last week’s number one Mason City hit a tough stretch and lost three games. Cedar Rapids Kennedy jumped up a notch to number two, Indianola is third, West Des Moines Valley — which laid two of the losses on Mason City — is up to fourth. Lewis Central is ranked fifth and Mason City dropped to sixth. Sioux City West, Dubuque Walhert, Bettendorf and Dubuque Hempsted round out the top ten. The other top ranked teams held steady during the week. Cedar Rapids Xavier is top-ranked in class 3A, followed by Knoxville, Davenport Assumption, Western Dubuque and West Delaware round out the top five. In 2A, Mason City Newman stays number one, Dyersville Beckman is second, Carlise third, Center Point-Urbana fourth and Jesup fifth. And finally in class 1A, Martensdale-St. Mary’s remains top-ranked, and the rest of the top five is the same with Lansing Kee, Sentral of Fenton, Iowa Valley and Twin River Valley filling the two through five spots.
