Summer camps important for basketball coaches

July 7, 2003 By admin

Summer basketball camps are important for players who want to improve their skills but also are a chance for the host school to market itself. William Penn will host boy’s and girl’s camps later this month in Oskaloosa and women’s coach Brian Spielbauer says getting exposure for the program is important, especially since he is entering his first season at the helm. He says they are the best way to meet the girls in the community and show them what the program’s about.Spielbauer says coaches also use their camps to evaluate players and see who they may recruit one day.And it also gets those players who may eventually become recruits to see the campus.Penn’s camp for girls is July 14th through the 17th, the boy’s camp is July 28th through the 31st.
