A unique event Saturday will try to raise funds for a Winterset couple facing a lawsuit over their hog operation. Roy Foley of Winterset is an auctioneer who’s helping with the event for Tim and Glenna Camp. Foley says the Camp’s 300 head hog unit has been in the same spot since 1975, and the Camps have been there for 12 years, but he says neighbors moved in and are now suing them. He says many people have responded to offer items for the fundraiser. He’s had calls from all over Iowa and they’ll have half a beef, a couple loads of hay and other items to sell. Foley says the livestock organizations in the state have also offered help. He says the pork, sheep and cattle producers have donated money to buy meat for sandwiches and all the proceeds will go to the defense fund. Foley says all money that’s collected about what’s needed for the camps will go to help defend other small farmers against law suits.
