A break in a sanitary sewer line has sent 45-thousand gallons of untreated wastewater into Clear Lake. Clear Lake Sanitary Sewer District officials say the break happened about 4 o’clock yesterday morning in the Ventura Heights Park area. The Sanitary District is making the necessary repairs as fast as possible and is removing the pooled wastewater from the park. DNR officials say most of the wastewater went into the lake, but because of the location of the break and the wind direction, the wastewater is not expected to be a threat to swimmers or boaters, nor is it expected to be an environmental threat to fish with the amount of dissolved oxygen in the lake currently being at a high level. Test results on the water are expected to be back later today to the DNR.
